It’s been a long time since the Vans Warped Tour has stopped in Las Vegas. There have been pit stops, where a few bands would play in one night, but never had there been a full on line up since 2004.
Vans Warped Tour was turning seventeen this year and what better way to celebrate it than coming to Sin City. Starting off as a punk festival, Warped Tour has ever changed since the first tour. This year, the tour is packed with energetic and charismatic bands that everyone loves.
The line up consisted of mostly post hardcore and “screamo” bands. Although that was a dominant genre of music, there was something there for everyone. On the Teggart Stage, August Burns Red kicked off the festival and the crowd was more than ecstatic to watch them. Meanwhile, on the Nintendo 3DS stage, Go Radio had fans jumping to their catchy riffs and pop rock beats. Every band that went on stage seemed like they enjoyed every second of their set. The guys of Of Mice & Men did an amazing job with their performance and Austin Carlile would get into the crowd and get them involved in their set.
As the day progressed, so did the weather. As expected, it was hot. But that didn’t stop many bands coming out to see their fans and do a couple signings. Also it didn’t stop the crowd from getting into some band’s sets and starting a few mosh pits. During We Came As Roman’s set, the crowd broke out into a mosh pit. Kyle Pavone also got in the crowd to sing the last few lines of “To Plant A Seed.”
To end off the festival, A Day To Remember took the Teggart stage. They started off with “I’m Made Of Wax Larry, What Are You Made Off?” The crowd sang every word to the song. Jeremy Mckinnon was all over the place when it came to performing. He paced back and forth across the stage screaming lyrics or singing melodies. Like McKinnon, Josh Woodard had a ton of energy. His performance was opposite of lackluster. The band played songs mainly off of their albums Homesick and What Separates Me From You. They ended the set with “Downfall of Us All.” The crowd went nuts! They even wanted an encore but sadly it didn’t happen.
All in all, Vans Warped Tour in Las Vegas is a festival to remember. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of a tradition.
